1. Who these terms are between
These terms govern your use of OwlSpend, an expense
tracking app for Android (package name com.owlspend.app), and
of the website at owlspend.com.
OwlSpend is published by Teknical Engineers, Indore, India
(“we”, “us”). By installing or using OwlSpend you
agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy, and by Google Play's Terms of Service, which apply to the distribution of the app and to any purchase you make through it.
2. Licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use OwlSpend on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal business record-keeping. You may not resell, sublicense, rent out, or redistribute the app, and you may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify it, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction. We retain all rights in the app, its name, and its branding.
3. The free version
OwlSpend's core expense tracking is free: adding transactions, accounts, categories, budgets and recurring rules within the free limits, local folder backups, CSV import and export, and the recent history window shown in the app. We may change what the free tier includes in future versions, and future versions may include advertising. Any such change applies to versions released after the change; it does not remove features you have already paid for under section 4.
4. Premium: a one-time purchase
- One payment, no subscription. Premium is bought once. There is no recurring charge, no auto-renewal, and nothing to cancel.
- Price. The price is shown in your local currency on the purchase screen inside the app, and on Google Play, before you confirm. Taxes are handled by Google Play according to your country. Prices may change for future buyers; a change never affects a purchase already made.
- What you get. Premium unlocks the features described on the purchase screen at the time of your purchase — currently automatic backup to your own Google Drive, receipt photos, PDF statements, all-time history and analytics, the additional colour themes, unlimited people in Lend & borrow, and the higher budget and recurring-rule limits.
- When it takes effect. Premium unlocks as soon as Google Play confirms the purchase. Because entitlement is checked with Google Play, the device needs an internet connection the first time it unlocks or restores Premium.
5. What “pay once, keep it” means
We want this to be unambiguous, because “lifetime” can mean different things in different apps.
- Your Premium entitlement is attached to the Google account you used to buy it — not to a single phone. Sign in to that account on a new device, install OwlSpend, and use Restore purchase in Settings to get Premium back. There is no limit on how many times you can restore it, and no additional charge.
- There is no expiry date. Premium does not lapse through non-use, and we will not convert it into a subscription or ask you to pay again for the features listed in section 4.
- “Keep it” means for as long as OwlSpend is published and supported on Google Play. It is not a promise that the app will be maintained forever, nor a promise of any particular future feature.
- If we ever build genuinely new services with ongoing running costs — for example server-hosted sync between devices, or a web version — those may be offered separately and are not included in your one-time purchase. Everything listed in section 4 stays included. Nothing that is Premium today will be moved behind a further payment.
- If OwlSpend is ever discontinued, the app already installed on your device keeps working offline, and your local and folder backups remain yours. We would give reasonable notice through the app or the Play listing before any feature that depends on Google Play or Google Drive stops working.
6. Payments and refunds
All payments are processed by Google Play. We never see or handle your card, bank, or address details — see section 4 of the Privacy Policy. Your receipt and order history live in your Google Play account.
- Refunds are governed by Google Play's refund policy. Requests should be made through Google Play, which handles them directly.
- If Google Play declines a request and you believe the app did not work as described, contact us — see section 12 — and we will look at it fairly.
- Consumer protection rights in your country, including any statutory right to cancel or to a remedy for a faulty product, apply in addition to the above and are not limited by these terms.
7. Your data and your backups
Your transactions and settings are stored on your device, not on our servers — we operate none. That means we cannot recover your data for you. If you lose, reset, or replace your device without a backup, the records on it are gone. You are responsible for keeping backups; OwlSpend gives you folder backups, CSV export, and (with Premium) automatic backup to your own Google Drive to make that straightforward.
8. Not financial advice
OwlSpend is a record-keeping and budgeting tool. Its totals, charts, insights, and PDF statements are generated from the data you enter and are provided for your own information only. They are not financial, investment, accounting, or tax advice, and are not a substitute for professional advice or for official statements from your bank. You are responsible for checking figures before relying on them, including for any tax or legal purpose.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to use OwlSpend for any unlawful purpose, not to attempt to circumvent the Premium entitlement check or Google Play billing, and not to distribute modified copies of the app. We may end your licence to use the app if you materially breach these terms; your rights under consumer law are unaffected.
10. Warranties and liability
OwlSpend is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device or Android version.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or profit. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you actually paid for Premium. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your mandatory rights under the law of your country of residence continue to apply and take precedence over anything in this section that conflicts with them.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms — for example when features change or a new payment option is added. The effective date above will be revised, and material changes will be noted in the app's update notes. Changes apply going forward; they never reduce what you have already paid for under sections 4 and 5. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Indore, Madhya Pradesh have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your own country, or of the right to bring proceedings there.
